Until a recent moment of enlightenment, I was under the impression that monochrome referred solely to the contrasting tonal palette of black and white. I stand corrected! It is infact a variation of any single colour tone;

noun - a photograph or picture developed or executed in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour.
